### Waiheke Island

Waiheke Island - the ultimate island retreat, just a 40-minute ferry ride from downtown Auckland. Known as the 'island of wine' for its many wineries and vineyards, feast on great wines and food. Take in spectacular views, explore the beaches and restaurants on the island.

### Amazing stargazing

Marvel at the clear dark skies for stargazing at Great Barrier Island. First in the world to be designated as an International Dark Sky Sanctuary, with only ten other places, enjoy lush native forests when you hike the Aotea Track or visit the rare wildlife of Glenfern Sanctuary.

### West coast beaches

Less than an hour's drive from Auckland city, find yourself on wild rugged beaches, where the Tasman Sea meets long, vast stretches of black sand. Visit Muriwai Beach for its impressive clifftops and gannet colonies or head to Karekare, the famous backdrop for the film The Piano.

### Soak up art & culture

Delve into Māori history and traditions at the Auckland War Memorial Museum or get creative at the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. The All Blacks Experience takes you into the history, culture and people who have made the All Blacks an important part of New Zealand’s story.
