# How It Works

### API request

VCA clients initiate a request to subscribe to the Data Exchange API to receive their VCA solution.

### Delivery Mechanism

The VCA solution is delivered via the API to the client through an interactive interface using JSON/XML message formats. If batch files are used, the solution is delivered back to the client using the batch layout message format.

# How It's Used

### Merchant Solutions

Merchant A may access aggregated insights into the profile of its customers (demographic or spend behavior) by geographic location. These profiles may be used to refine their customer strategy (e.g., product offerings, marketing campaign).

### Issuer Solutions

Issuer B may access card level score related to attrition risk. This scores may be used to increase cardholder engagement, prevent attrition and reduce future inactivity.
