VGAR Interaction Requirements

Give Users Time (INT-WEB-009)

Give users more time when needed

Some users may require more time to complete tasks on a site and should be offered a clear warning when a session timeout is occurring. The user must be given at least 30 seconds to respond to the warning message. Someone who is using an alternative input device such as a mouth stick or a switch device with an onscreen keyboard may require a longer time to respond to a session timeout warning.

The user must also be given an option to extend the time of the session by performing a simple action such as a key command.

Requirements

Warn About Timeout (INT-WEB-009-01)

Users MUST be warned prior to when a session times out and expires.

Extend Timeout (INT-WEB-009-02)

Users MUST be given at least 30 seconds to take action in order to avoid a session time out by extending the time limit (of a session) via a “simple” user action (e.g., "press the space bar").

Test Procedures

Visual Inspection (INT-WEB-009-01-T)

Visual Inspection (INT-WEB-009-02-T)

Confirm that users are given at least 30 seconds to take action in order to avoid a session time out by extending the time limit (of a session) via a "simple" user action (e.g., "press the space bar").
